Dear friends,
I thought I'd give you a few interesting web pointers that I have been
gathering in my ``Vallist'' folder for the last few weeks.
Except more ``content'' soon!
First, a number of egocentric links (but they may be useful for your
reference):
* My Caltech home page: http://www.its.caltech.edu/~vallis
This contains: mailing and telephone info; the full text of my papers
(currently only one is available though) and of my ``tesi di laurea'';
plus links to the home page of my soccer team at Caltech, the Phys. Rev.
Netters, and to a theme page about an 8mm movie (yes!) in which I
starred earlier this year.
* My ``hobbies'' home page: http://www.vallis.homepage.com
Formerly http://www.fis.unipr.it/~vallis, this pages were originally
composed a few years ago, and are now only slightly updated. They
contain a ``book page'' with my reading list (utterly incomplete) and
excerpts from my favourite authors; a collection of ``Calvin and
Hobbes'' strips regarding physics (highly recommended); a ``ZX
Spectrum'' page (my first beloved computer); a ``Misery Loves Company''
site (MLC were my Cure-inspired and gig-shunning rock band with
Alessandro Tellini); finally, a photo album, under heavy construction
(but I'll tell you when it is worth a visit).
* The home page for this mailing list: http://www.egroups.com/vallist
Here you can access the archives for this list (ok, I know they are not
very full yet...) You need to register with the site in order to do
this, but it's not too painful.
Now a few amusing links (with many thanks to Kola and Daniele):
* http://www.asciimation.co.nz
Watch Star Wars IV (a New Hope), delivered with state-of-the-art
technology...
* http://www.bregenzerfestspiele.com/english/main.html (check!)
An absolutely amazing stage design (a bit kitsch, might I add)... But
mind you, what you see is not computer graphic, but the actual stage
design...
* http://www-csag.cs.uiuc.edu/individual/pakin/complaint
An automatic complaint generator (now you know what to do when you get
fed up with my e-mails).
* http://www.calvinandhobbes.com/
* http://www.ctoons.com/javascript/bc/ns/
* http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/forbetter/ab.html
My favourite comic strips.
Love,
Michele
